For the recommended replacement schedule for your specific model, please check your Product Manual.

Water & Filtration

Reverse osmosis (RO) is one of the most advanced water filtration technologies used in home water purification. RO membranes typically have a filtration precision of around 0.0001 μm, allowing them to help reduce extremely small contaminants that conventional filtration may not effectively address.

RO filtration can help reduce a wide range of contaminants, including lead, arsenic, chromium, PFAS, microplastics, dissolved salts and other impurities, as well as certain microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses.

Because of its extremely fine filtration, RO is widely used when a high level of purification is desired for drinking and cooking water.

TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids — the total amount of dissolved substances in water, including minerals, salts, metals and other dissolved matter.

A lower TDS reading does not necessarily mean that water is healthier or safer. For example, some mineral waters naturally have relatively high TDS because they contain dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Likewise, a low TDS reading does not guarantee that water is free from harmful contaminants. TDS is useful for understanding the overall amount of dissolved solids in water, but it should not be used alone as a measure of water safety or quality.

The main difference is filtration precision and intended use.

RO systems typically filter down to around 0.0001 μm, allowing them to help reduce a much wider range of dissolved substances and contaminants. The purified water is designed primarily for drinking and cooking.

Faucet water filters generally use less intensive filtration and are designed to improve everyday tap water by helping reduce substances such as chlorine while improving taste and odor. Depending on the filtration technology, filtration precision can vary significantly. For example, some conventional filtration may be in the micron range, while ultrafiltration (UF) can reach approximately 0.01 μm.

Faucet filtration is a convenient choice for everyday household water use, while RO is better suited when a higher level of water purification is desired.
